Biography

Christoph Simon, born in Langnau im Emmental in 1972, is a freelance writer and cabaret artist living in Bern. He attended grammar school in Thun and the Swiss Jazz School in Bern. He has a background of matriculation, various travels and career dead ends. His novels and texts have been translated into nine languages and have been honoured with various awards. He tours small theatres in Switzerland and neighbouring countries with his solo cabaret programmes. Christoph Simon is the winner of the Canton of Bern Book Prize (2005 Planet Obrist, 2010 Spaziergänger Zbinden), two-time Swiss Poetry Slam Champion (2014 and 2015) and winner of the Salzburger Stier (2018), the most prestigious cabaret prize in the German-speaking world. ‘Gertsch, the Thief – The donated corpse’ (wt) is volume I of the Gertsch crime series and will be published in autumn 2025 by Atlantis Verlag, an imprint of Kampa Verlag.
