
Elisabeth Stern, born in 1947, grew up in Uznach and Zurich and now lives in the Zurich Oberland after many years abroad. She has been an activist for over 40 years. Her engagement began in California in a movement to end global hunger, followed by voluntary work in the peace movement. At the same time, she continued her studies and gained a doctorate in ethnology. Elisabeth Stern became aware of the climate crisis during two years of field research in Zimbabwe. Since her retirement, she has been involved in a wide range of lecturing activities on the board of KlimaSeniorinnen Schweiz. Elisabeth Stern is the author of “Als die Schweiz ins Schwitzen kam. Die Klimaseniorinnen”, together with Brigitte Hürlimann and Cordelia Bähr.
