Biography
Anja Nora Schulthess, studied philosophy, cultural analysis and literary studies in Zurich. She writes cultural studies texts, essays, poetry and prose. As a journalist, she has written for DAS MAGAZIN, REPUBLIK, WOZ, Fabrikzeitung, Luzerner Zeitung, NZZ Campus, Literarischer Monat, FRIDA MAGAZIN and various cultural magazines, among others. Her poetry debut “worthülsen luftlettern dreck” was published in 2017. Since then she has performed readings in various contexts in German-speaking Switzerland, among others with the drummer Vincent Glanzmann, the saxophonist Tobias Meier and the bassist Martina Berther.
In 2019, she received the annual prize of the Swiss Social Archive for her work on underground newspapers in the context of the Zurich youth unrest. She is currently working on her debut novel. In 2021 she received a grant from the Albert Koechlin Foundation – Talent Promotion Literature. In 2022 she was awarded a work grant by the Central Switzerland Literature Promotion as well as by the Office for Culture St. Gallen. She lives in Lucerne with her partner and her two daughters.
