Doris Ryffel-Rawak was born in Uruguay as the daughter of German-Jewish emigrants and grew up there. After graduating from high school, she moved to Germany with her parents, where she studied medicine. She married and moved to Switzerland. She resumes her medical career and becomes a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy. In her own practice, she focuses on the topic of attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder in adults. Her books ‘ADHS bei Erwachsenen’, ‘Wir fühlen sich anders’, ‘ADHS bei Frauen – den Gefühle ausgeliefert’ and ‘ADHS und Partnerschaft – eine Herausforderung’ (ADHD and partnership – a challenge) have made her well-known far beyond the borders of Germany.
Doris Ryffel-Rawak has been artistically active since her early youth. Her works were first exhibited in Switzerland and since 2005 mainly in her home country Uruguay. Two collections of poetry have also been published in Montevideo: ‘Sutilezas’ and ‘Imprudencias’. The author is a mother of three grown-up sons and a proud grandmother. She lives both in Uruguay and Switzerland. This novel is the first by the author.
