Ivona Brdjanovic was born in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1984 and has lived in Zurich since 1991. From 2011-2015 she studied Literary Writing at the Bern University of the Arts in Switzerland. Brdjanovic writes prose and for the theatre with publications in the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, the Fabrikzeitung (Zurich), the culture magazine Kolt (Olten), the Aargauer Zeitung and other magazines and journals. Since 2011 she has been involved in theatre performances, readings and the organisation of various readings and cultural events. These include the productions Die Wortnacht am laufenden Band and Yugo, oh you go? at the Fabriktheater (Zurich), readings at the Solothurn Literature Days, the even Theater (Zurich) or the ThiK (Baden), an authors’ workshop at Gessnerallee (Zurich) and an invitation to the Theatertreffen at Schauspiel Leipzig. In 2017 she received a work grant from the canton of Zurich for her novel project Grad. With the play Jemandland she makes her debut at the Konzert Theater Bern.
